Effect of retinol treatment on facial skin appearance the analysis of the skin biopsies demonstrated that both retinol and retinoic acid treatments increased epidermal thickening, upregulated gene expression related to skin functions, and increased collagen synthesis in skin. Wrinkle scores were reduced by 63.74% at the cheeks and 38.74% in the eye areas after 12 weeks of treatment.
